For me – A life-changing supplement!
I first injured my knee when I was about 15 years old. Then, shortly, the other one, too. Pain and knee lock-ups were a part of life from then on. But at age 38 an old friend saw me hobbling like an old man from church to the car and galloped over to see what was wrong. He told me “Take gelatin.” My wonderful wife heard and made sure I did it. In 6 weeks the pain cycle had leveled off at the low end, and continued trending down ever since.

Collagen Peptides
Collagen is the most abundant protein in our entire body! It is the glue that holds all of our cells together giving our bodies strength and structure. Without it, our skin begins to sag, muscles and bones lose strength and structure, joints lose mobility, ligaments and tendons suffer, even our hair and nails become weak and brittle.
It is one of the most important substances in our entire body and we’re not getting enough of it!
…continued from above
I’ve been virtually knee-pain free for over 25 years and the lock-ups happen so rarely the last 10 – 15 years that I forget about it and do what I want. I’m now 67. I’ll tell that whole story one day in another post.
Okay, that’s about gelatin.
What about collagen peptides?
What is the difference?
Is one better than the other?
In my simple words, gelatin and collagen peptides are the same material, both made from collagen. Gelatin is the “unwound collagen molecules” and collagen peptides are the “unwound collagen molecules cut into shorter pieces”.
What I’ve found from both use and reading is that
- collagen peptides is much easier to mix in liquid
- it’s easier to digest so more of the peptides get used by my body
- both are nearly tasteless, though my wife tastes a hint of beef in the gelatin
- collagen peptides are normally much more expensive than gelatin – but…
Then I found LiveGood Collagen Peptides at slightly more money per serving than the bulk gelatin we were using, and much less than other decent brands of collagen, So I’ve switched.
I find that I’m a lot more consistent with my usage of LiveGood Collagen Peptides than I was with any of the gelatin products I’ve used since the pain stopped. (Pain is a strong reminder!) Now my morning routine is a quart mason jar about 3/4 filled with water, 1 or 2 scoops of LiveGood collagen peptides, 1 short scoop of LiveGood E3 (sometimes), and a heaping scoop of Super Reds, lidded, shaken, let sit a couple minutes while is start a pot of coffee, another shake or two, top it up with more water, then drink it before I start on coffee.
Then I’m off to the races! Join me!
